Puppy left abandoned with mouth bound by fishing line was on its way to cruel meat farm
A puppy who was no more than “skin and bones” and pinched for the horrors of the dog meat trade was found with its mouth tied together by a fishing line.
When the courageous heroes from the Mission Pawsible rescue group discovered the poor pooch Lucy abandoned on a building site, the wire had wounded her nose and mouth so deeply that she had contracted parvovirus.
The traumatised canine, found in Bali, thankfully had a miraculous recovery after she was raced to the vet for urgent medical assistance.
Lucy recovered from the nasty disease before coming down with distemper which she bravely battled, reports Daily Star.
One of the brave members from the Mission Pawsible team told the social media site BoredPanda: “The poor pup was meant for the horrible and sadistic meat farms.
“We didn’t think she would make it. Her immune system had been ravaged and she was already skin and bones when we found her.
“It is a miracle that little Lucy is alive today.”
After fighting off infection at the vets, rescuers fed Lucy bone broth from a syringe and showed her “all the love and care” they could.
But although she had started to recover physically, the poor pooch was emotionally traumatised.
“From the minute she was rescued, she was quiet and never made eye contact with anyone,” rescuers added.
“She would huddle in the corner of her crate and stay there for hours, only emerging to go to the bathroom.
“The trauma she must have endured before we found her was huge—she had absolutely no trust for humans.”
Now, after living with Prue, the Mission Pawsible founder, Lucy is beginning to relax and has made “amazing” progress.
“She is still cautious, but day by day, she is turning back into a happy and playful little dog,” the group says.
