Miracle Dog Receives a New Lease on Life Through Life-Saving Surgery
When the doors of a local shelter opened to take in Hattie, her rescuers were astonished by the large tumor on her side. Fortunately, they did not give up and offered her another opportunity in life. With their help and care, she is healthy once more!
Every pet deserves to have a loving, lifelong home. Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for some people to give up their furry friends when they no longer feel responsible for them. This isn’t what it means to be a true pet parent – before you decide to own an animal, consider if you are ready and able to provide unconditional love forever.
When Hattie’s family surrendered her to the shelter, workers were speechless at the state of this pup. She was in a pitiful condition and it broke their hearts.
Hattie endured a massive tumor for two years that drastically affected her ability to stand. This was especially heartbreaking given the fact that her owners did nothing to alleviate her condition. The shelter’s Facebook post described it as “the worst owner surrender we have taken in.”
Even though her owners had determined to have Hattie euthanized, the devoted staff knew that by taking her over to Dallas DogRRR she could get a second chance at life and receive the medical attention she so desperately needed.
The rescue team then organized an operation with the Vet Ranch and was pleasantly surprised to find that despite the gigantic lump on her side, Hattie was cheery and delighted by the human company.
In a video posted by Vet Clinic, Hattie’s vet tearfully said, “It breaks my heart that she has to live with this every day. She just accepts it like it’s no big deal – even though there is something drastically wrong.”
Thankfully, the surgery that took three hours was incredibly successful in removing this “beast” from her life. According to Dr. Kerri, she weighed 41 lbs before and now only weighs 26! It will be fascinating to observe how transformed she becomes without having anything weighing her down anymore.
After the gigantic, bowling ball-sized tumor was extracted from her body, Hattie’s life changed forever. She found a loving home and experienced true joy for the first time in her life. The rescue shared on its website that she had finally obtained her much-deserved “happy ending”.
She cherishes her people and is grateful for the carefree lifestyle present to her because of the shelter workers who refused to give up on her.
Spread the word of this story to your friends and family and remember that animals aren’t playthings – if you choose to bring them into your life, they must remain a part of it indefinitely.
