Dog Abandoned Outside Shelter with Heartbreaking Note and Tears in Her Eyes, Soon Gets Good News
Minerva, a five-month-old Cane Corso/pit mastiff puppy, was abandoned at the Pennsylvania SPCA headquarters. She was tied to a pole with a note that read, “Good Puppy. House Broken. Don’t Have A Name.” The shelter staff found her with tears in her eyes, and they had to wipe them away.
“Our hearts broke for her. She was so terrified,” the SPCA wrote on Facebook. At just five months old, Minerva had been left by the only family she had ever known. But now, she was safe with the SPCA.
A New Name and a Wave of Support
The shelter named the puppy Minerva, and her story quickly touched many hearts. People from all over reached out, eager to give Minerva a new home.
Comments flooded the SPCA’s post with well-wishes and congratulations. One person wrote, “Congratulations to beautiful Minerva and her equally beautiful forever family. Thank you for adopting this sweet baby and giving her such a wonderful home.”
Another added, “Oh, look at those smiling faces! You are amazing!! She’s going to be spoiled! No more tears there!”
A Hopeful Future for All Dogs
While Minerva’s story had a happy ending, many dogs are not as lucky. The SPCA continues to see an increase in abandoned and surrendered pets. They urge people to consider adoption over purchasing dogs.
“We are witnessing owner surrenders increasing. It may go without saying that adoptions have slowed down significantly,” the Pennsylvania SPCA noted. “Dogs just like Minerva are coming in every day. We are rescuing animals from cruelty and neglect, hoping loving families will come to adopt.”
Minerva’s new family is overjoyed, and her future looks bright. The SPCA hopes that more dogs will find their forever homes, just like she did.
Minerva’s journey from abandonment to love reminds us of the many animals still waiting for a second chance. Let’s hope they all find the happiness they deserve.
