In her interview for Newsweek, Sarah Brown, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania SPCA, said that Lily, now a five-year-old Pit Bull, was saved by the Animal Law Enforcement team back in 2021.
Soon after that, she was brought to Pennsylvania SPCA, a rescue organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. People there immediately noticed that she was in a terrible state, which indicated that her previous owner strongly abused her.
Although the shelter employees and volunteers were happy that Lily was finally safe, they knew that it would be a long road to a happy ending. Still, not even in their wildest dreams could they have expected it to last this long.
Days, weeks, months, and years passed without anyone even paying attention to Lily.
It was a real nightmare that, unfortunately, continues to this day, and that is the saddest part of the whole story.
“For 1,165 days, Lily has been living in our shelter, waiting patiently for someone to choose her,” they wrote in their August 25 Facebook post.
However, regardless of the difficulties, these people have no intention of giving up on Lily.
Hope Of A Forever Home
Although the latest post about Lily started off sad, it continued in a positive tone. The shelter stated that one could never guess Lily’s past after seeing her.
“To this day, she wakes up grateful for a second chance. She will play with her favorite stuffy toys for hours and is eager to be outside her friends who have taught her so much.” they wrote.
They also stated that her life journey was filled with ups and downs, but that she never stops smiling no matter what.
“Now she is ready to finally leave shelter life behind and find a family who will cherish her for the beautiful soul she is,” they wrote. “She would like to be the only pet, but we promise she has so much love to give, you won’t need another.”
We hope that after such a long wait, this amazing girl will finally meet her happy ending because, after everything she went through, she deserves nothing less.
