A neglected pet dog was left tethered to a railing with a pizza and a written note
A heart-wrenching tale unfolded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when a dog was found abandoned, tethered to a railing with nothing but a few slices of pizza and a poignant note for company.
On an ordinary day, Justin Hanley was leaving his house when he noticed the forsaken pup munching on pizza. Curiosity piqued, he discovered a note hidden under the doormat.
The note read: “Please take me home. I’m a girl named Diamond. We can no longer keep her in our home. Thank you.”
Although unable to keep Diamond, Justin didn’t look the other way. He led her to his backyard and reached out for help on East Falls Rants’s Facebook page.
In swooped the knights in shining armour – the Don’t Bully Us Rescue from southern New Jersey. They promptly found Diamond in a foster home with Chris King, a retired Army special forces officer. Under his care, Diamond was reborn as Serenity.
Serenity acclimated swiftly, joining Chris’s extended family that included nine other dogs, seven pygmy goats, Chris’s girlfriend, and four human siblings!
While Serenity was initially adopted into a forever home, destiny had other plans. She yearned for Chris and his warm, loving family. Unable to adjust, she was returned to them.
And thus, Chris decided to adopt Serenity permanently, ensuring they would never have to part again! A beautiful ending indeed for Serenity, who deserved a second chance at happiness.
