A dog that was abandoned because he was struggling to learn good behavior is now set to be rehomed

If you are unable to take care of a dog, it is best to surrender them to the shelter. Unfortunately, many people don’t do this which makes the dogs more anxious and confused. This is how an old Lab felt after he was left outside Jasmil Kennels without anything but a heartbreaking note.

Staff were shocked to discover the dog was tied to a fence outside. This note did not give any explanation for why the sweet dog was left behind. He never “learned how to be good”, as that was his only explanation.

The Heartbreaking Note

The note was not signed and the senior black Lab didn’t have a microchip. Animal services didn’t know how to locate the responsible party. The reason for the surrender was not clear to animal services, and the note left behind by the dog only made matters worse.

THE NOTE STATED, “HELLO, COULD YOU PLEASE TAKE ME IN AS MY OWNER ABANDONED ME AFTER 10 YEAR BECAUSE I HAVEN’T LEARNED TO BE GOOD.” “SO, I’VE BEEN RETURNED TO THE PLACE HE FOUND ME. I AM VERY GRATEFUL FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED.

It is hard to believe someone would leave their 10 year old dog, especially in such a tragic way. The poor puppy was probably more confused and sad than anyone else. He deserves better.

Swale Borough Council Stray Dog Service posted photos of the dog along with a note to their Facebook. They were interested in more information and asked the community for any additional information.

What will happen to the dog?

Stray Dog Service published an update once they found the owner of the dog. Although they didn’t provide much detail, they stated that the circumstances were different from what they seem. They reached out to extended relatives, who didn’t know that the dog had been abandoned.

They love their dog and want to make sure he has a happy home. They have offered to adopt him, so that he can go home to his family. If the dog responds positively to the family and the home inspection is approved, he will be adopted by them. If that doesn’t happen, he has many other potential adoptive families.

Although we may never know the exact reason for this Lab’s passing, we can be sure that he will always be loved. No dog should ever be abandoned in this way, regardless of their reasoning. Do not abandon your dog.
