A dog named King was discovered abandoned at a Burger King restaurant. A heartbreaking note was fastened to his collar that read: “I’m a good boy.”
A heart-wrenching story unfolded when a loyal canine stumbled upon the parking lot of a Burger King in Monee, Illinois. Upon closer examination, it became evident that this four-legged companion had been left behind, as indicated by the letter discovered alongside him.
Attached to the pup’s collar was a poignant note that explained he had been abandoned. It read: “Hi, I’m King! A real sweetheart who loves cuddles and kisses!” The heartfelt message instantly melted all of our hearts.
In the letter, it was made evident that the pup’s birthday is July 22nd, 2018. It seemed as though they were making a last-ditch effort to ensure their pet found a happy home.
The heartbreaking story from the Monee Police Department quickly spread online. It was confirmed that he was an affectionate boy, with officers affirming that “he does love to hug and kiss.” Our hearts ache for him.
The South Suburban Humane Society brought King in and asked for his owner to come forward, with the intent of helping them.
In a recent update from the humane society, King’s owner came forward and revealed that there was much more to the story than what first appeared.
The South Suburban Humane Society revealed that King’s family had abandoned her after a major medical event, leaving his beloved owner completely devastated. She had been in the process of recuperation with the support of her relatives before this unfortunate incident occurred.
After a long and emotional conversation, the owner and staff came up with a plan to keep King and his owner together. The owner is going to look for a new place to live, and in the meantime, one of the staff members has agreed to foster King. This way, they can stay close until the owner finds a new home.
Cases of abandoned dogs always evoke strong emotions from the public, but sometimes unforeseen complications like this happen. Both the South Suburban Humane Society and the Village of Monee Police Department urged people to be understanding.
The police department stated that they understand some people may have different opinions on the situation, but they chose kindness in this specific case. They went on to write that King was never placed in danger and that the love between him and his owner was very clear.
The Humane Society preached that every day, there is an opportunity to exude empathy and kindness – just like King’s owner did. They confirmed that he was well cared for, loved deeply, cherished daily, and provided with all of the creature comforts necessary during his time on this earth.
The owner of SSHS is a very proud person who isn’t comfortable accepting help from others, so donations aren’t being accepted at this time.
A big thank you to those who have been assisting King and his owner – we are all hoping for a quick reunion.
